For more than 80 years, radio has exposed listeners to new music and artists. This free airplay, which reaches hundreds of millions of listeners each week, has helped those artists increase their visibility and popularity, sell concert tickets, CDs, music downloads and merchandise.

If this performance tax passes, funding to support programs featuring local and regional artists would no doubt be reduced and providing quality local news and public affairs programming will be more difficult. That would not be good for artists, radio stations, or, more importantly, the millions of music lovers listening to free radio every day.

Your local member of Congress can help. Click here to encourage them to support THE LOCAL RADIO FREEDOM ACT (H. Con. Res. 49) opposing a performance tax on radio.
